Whether it was the sense of occasion taking to the field in Omagh today or just the need for two points, Tyrone ladies produced a very solid team display to easily account for Meath and register their first win of the season. Meath actually began brightly and it took Tyrone a while to settle. The Royal County were 0-3 to 0-1 ahead after 8 minutes but a Joline Donnelly in the tenth minute galvanised the team and they never looked back. They had built up an eight point lead by the break and indeed could have been even further ahead had they capitalised on the chances they created.

A goal early in the second half from Cathy Donnelly put paid to any chance there was of a Meath comeback and Mickey Rea’s side cantered to to a deserved 4-15 to 1-08 win. With several tough games coming up it was vital Tyrone got the win this afternoon and with the boost in confidence today’s victory will bring, perhaps the side can now aim to climb the table away from any threat of possible relegation.
