Tyrone Ladies Two From Two

Tyrone ladies senior side found themselves involved in a high scoring clash with Westmeath on Sunday afternoon before a strong second half saw them finish as 4-15 to 6-6 winners.
Niamh O’Neill opened the scoring with an early free but the home side replied almost immediately from play. A Maeve Maxwell goal and points from Emma Conroy, Niamh O’Neill, Emma Jane Gervin and Aoife Horisk put the Red Hands in a strong position but the home side showed they meant business with a brace of goals in the 14th and 16th minutes.
Tyrone hit the net courtesy of Cara Mc Namee but back came Westmeath as they finished the half strongly to go in at the break leading 4-4 to 2-7.
The Red Hands were somewhat wasteful early in the second half before Aoife Horisk pointed. , Niamh O’Neill added to the Tyrone tally as they chased down the Westmeath lead. Another Westmeath goal proved to be a temporary blip as Aoife Horisk and Cara Mc Namee continued to chase the game.
Another Tyrone goal, this time from Mc Crossan put the Red Hands in pole position and although Westmeath scored a sixth goal Darren Mc Cann’s charges were not to be denied. Tyrone finished winners on a scoreline of 4-15 to 6-6.
