Tyrone Lose Narrowly At Headquarters

Tyrone lost by a point against Dublin this afternoon in a game that ebbed and flowed but pulsed with excitement throughout. The Red Hands were dealt a huge blow at the start when team captain and top scorer Stevie O’Neill was declared unfit to play. His place was taken by Conor Mc Aliskey and the young Clonoe forward did his cause no harm with a very busy and productive display.

The men in blue looked like they might run away with the game after they opened a four points to one lead but Tyrone battled back and by the break they were level ten points apiece. The second half was nip and tuck but Tyrone’s problems magnified as their injury list grew. It was a real battle out there but the Dubs got the vital scores late on to come from one down to engineer a 0-18 to 0-17 win. Heartbreak then for Tyrone but they showed enough out here today to suggest they might have a bit of a say when the big one is decided later in the season.
