Tyrone Maintain Unbeaten Run

Tyrone continued their fine run of form in the league with a 1-13 to 0-12 win over neighbours and rivals Donegal. This was not a dirty game but Donegal finished the match with thirteen players following double yellow cards for Michael Murphy and Neill Gallagher. Murphy’s second yellow came following a penalty save when his shot was stopped by man of the match Niall Morgan in the Tyrone goals. Morgan was superb for Tyrone throughout and in addition to making several fine saves also knocked over three long range points.

Mickey Harte’s side struggled in the first half with Donegal’s work rate around the middle of the field but the introduction of Aidan Cassidy helped swing things in Tyrone’s favour. A fortuitous Stevie O’Neill goal gave his side a platform to build on and in spite of Donegal’s best efforts they could not force the goal they needed and when Neill Gallagher picked up his second yellow the game was up for Donegal. Tyrone deserved their win but they will know that there is a lot of work still to do if they are to make a sustained run in this year’s championship.

Final score Tyrone 1-13, Donegal 0-12.
