Tyrone Masters See Off Donegal In Association With Emerald Steel And Leonard Transport
Wednesday 05.07.2023
Tyrone Masters remain unbeaten but only after they were pushed all the way by a very capable Donegal side at Killyclogher on Wednesday night on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-10.
Donegal were very impressive in the first half with Shaun Maguire, Laurence Mc Mullin, Brendan Boyle, David Mc Shane and Sean Mc Daid carrying the game to Tyrone. Maguire gave an exhibition of shooting with three superb first half points while Boyle was also in imperious form as Donegal reached the break leading 0-9 to 0-7. The visitors played wind assisted and had the Tyrone defence under pressure for most of the first half.
Tyrone were struggling around the middle of the field in the opening half and defenders Liam Patterson, Marty Brannigan, Damian Mc Devittt and Conor Gormley were forced to work hard to keep Donegal at bay. The Red Hands found time and space hard to come by but Gary Coney, Stephen O’Neill and Niall Gormley got the scores that kept their team in touch at the break.
The home side began the second half on song with points from O’Neill with a monstrous kick and Niall Gormley (2) to lead for the first time. Shaun Maguire drew the sides level from a converted free but that proved to be Donegal’s only score of the half as Tyrone bossed the remainder of the game and points from Conor Gormley and Niall Gormley (3) sealed the win and meant Tyrone remain unbeaten in the competition.
Final score: Tyrone 0-14, Donegal 0-10
