Tyrone Minor Ladies Defeat Sligo

Tyrone ladies minor team produced their best display of the season as they saw off favourites Sligo in a superb B Championship  semi final at Ballyshannon on Thursday evening.

With a place in the final at stake this was a game with no quarter asked or given. The sides were level 0-7 apiece at the break but a brilliant second half showing from Tyrone restricted Sligo to four points and ended up with a 3-13 to 0-11 victory for Fergal Quinn’s side.

There was little between the sides throughout the first half but Tyrone went off at the break feeling aggrieved at a disallowed goal scored by Erin Mc Ginn.  The young Red Hands used that as a positive as they produced an excellent second half hitting the net three times and holding their much vaunted opponents to just four second half points.

Tyrone’s three goals came from Keeva Owens (1-6)  with a superb goal from the penalty spot and a goal apiece from Erin Mc Ginn and substitute Lucy Mc Cullagh.

Others to get among the points for Tyrone were Isabella Grimes (2), Dana Coyle , Hannah Donnelly, Liza Mc Donnell and Cara Mc Moran (0-2).

A special mention for goalkeeper Rhianna Mullin and her full back line of Caitlin Mc Carron, Ellie Daly and Zara Mc Anespy who displayed heroics in the early minutes of the game to deny Sligo a number of goal scoring chances.

Tyrone will now meet Kerry in the final on the 25th of July.
