Tyrone minors travelled to Ahoghill this evening to take on Antrim in the opening round of the 2014 Ulster Minor League and came away with a convincing 3-11 to 1-7 win. However the young Red Hands were forced to battle all the way as Antrim playing with the aid of a strong breeze in the opening half reached the break leading 1-5 to 0-5. Tyrone’s first half points came from Lee Brennan (2), Ryan Mc Aleer, Tomas Carney and Kevin Coney. However Tyrone made the most of the elements after the break with Lee Brennan in particular  leading the charge. A Jonah Lafferty goal put the visitors ahead and once Tyrone were in front they never looked like losing. Late goals from Lafferty again and Fintan Mc Clure put a bit of a gloss on the score line but there was no denying that Tyrone were deserving winners. Next up is a clash with old rivals Derry on Saturday.
