Tyrone players were to the fore on Thursday as UUJ edged out Sigerson Cup holders DIT 1-9 to 1-6 to progress to the semi-finals of this season’s competition. Red Hand trio Mattie Donnelly, Conor Mc Aliskey and Ronan O’Neill all made major contributions in the forward unit as Adrian Mc Guckin’s side held on to defeat the former champions.The county’s latest corner back Barry Tierney also produced a fine display for the Jordanstown students defence as they made it through to next weekend’s showpiece games. Omagh St Endas forward O’Neill bagged UUJ’s goal in the forty eighth minute with a cheeky chip over the head of DIT keeper Connor Ferris. The Jordanstown side were reduced to fourteen men late on and found themselves in a real backs to the wall battle but held on to win by three.
