The Tyrone team to play Derry in the opening game in division two of the National League on Sunday at Celtic Park has just been announced and once again manager Mickey Harte has decided to ring the changes from last weekend’s win over UUJ. Donaghmore’s Damian McCaul makes his first appearance in the league for two years after overcoming a double cruciate ligament injury while there is a first appearance of the season in Tyrone colours for Peter Harte. The Errigal Ciaran man played in the McKenna Cup for St.Marys and was in superb form last weekend scoring seven points as Tyrone U21s beat Fermanagh in the Cremartin Cup. He is joined in the three quarter line by the inform Brian McGuigan and Sean Cavanagh, the latter moving from midfield. Aidan Cassidy and Kevin Hughes form the midfield partnership while Stephen O’Neill leads the full forward line with Martin Penrose and Enda McGinley either side of him. Newcomers Ciaran Gervin, Aidan McCrory, Stephen McNally and Paddy McNiece will all hope to make their league debuts from the bench. Niall McKenna and Sean O’Neill make their first squad of the season as both were otherwise engaged in the McKenna Cup with Queens and St.Marys respectively.
