ULSTER MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Tyrone made it three wins from three games in the Ulster championship following a facile win over Antrim at O’Neills Healy Park on Saturday afternoon. The young Red Hands took a while to settle as Antrim enjoyed a period of early possession but once Mattie Howe burst through for the first goal of the game after seven minutes the home side bossed the game from then until the end.

Three minutes later Darragh Donaghy hit the first of his three goals following a fine team move to make it 2-0 to no score. James Corry added a third goal five minutes later and Tyrone added points from Donaghy (2), Howe and corner back Jamie Concannon to leave the half time score 3-4 to 0-0.

The second half saw Tyrone produce some of their best football of the year creating numerous chances and missing very few. Darragh Donaghy opened the second half scoring with a free after thirty two minutes and within a minute Brian Gallagher notched his team’s fourth goal. A dominant Tyrone side added points from Conor Devlin, Liam Corry, Nathan Ferry and Conor O’Neill before Antrim opened their account when Jamie Blaney fired over.

There was to be no remarkable comeback for Antrim however as Darragh Donaghy completed his hat trick and Kelvin Nelson, Liam and Sean Corry added points to extend Tyrone’s lead to 6-16 to 0-2. Antrim’s second score of the game came when Michael Mc Kenna converted an awkward free from out wide on the right.

Tyrone however had really found their groove and further goals from a totally dominant home team saw Mattie Howe and Conor O’Neill make it eight in total before a last minute Kelvin Nelson point rounded the scoring off.

Result: Tyrone 8-17, Antrim 0-
