Tyrone senior camogie side enjoyed a well deserved 3-16 to 2-3 win over Louth at Pairc Eire Og on Saturday afternoon. The return of Sally Mc Cann to the full forward line was a key factor in the performance and the win.

Playing with the aid of the strong breeze the home side started strongly. A goal from Mc Cann followed by a kicked point from the impressive Aoife Teague gave Tyrone an early platform to build on. Roisin Mc Erlean, Sally Mc Cann and Grainne Mc Donald added scores before Louth finally broke their duck with a super strike from midfielder Cara Mc Keever to leave the score Tyrone 3-6, Louth 1-0 with half time rapidly approaching. The home side extended their lead by an additional point when Sally Mc Cann converted the last chance of the half.

Credit must go to the Tyrone defence with Catherine Muldoon and Aine Mc Nulty superb throughout while goalkeeper Eimear Colton made several top saves from the Louth attackers.

The second half saw Tyrone produce some excellent combination play with Reagan Fay and Siobhan Donnelly outstanding. Roisin Mc Erlean, Fay, Cara Little and Sally before Louth  Mc Cann added points to put Tyrone out of sight before a late goal from Niamh Fennel reduced the deficit and left the final score Tyrone 3-16, Louth 2-3.

Tyrone produced an excellent all round team performance with every player working for the team and playing as a unit. Next up for the Red Hands in the Nancy Murray Cup competition is a clash next week with the highly fancied Wicklow side.
