Less than 48 hours after booking their place in the Ulster U14 championship final at the expense of Armagh, Tyrone travelled to Portlaoise to take part in the annual All Ireland blitz.

They played hosts Laois in the first game and emerged 2-2 to 1-2 winners with Rhianne Monaghan and Emma Conroy getting the goals with Rachel Kelly and Monaghan supplying a point each. Next up they accounted for Limerick on a 1-5 to 1-2 scoreline with Rhianne Monaghan hitting 1-1, Emma Conroy 0-2 and Lucy Conroy and Kelly McCaffrey a point each. Their third game saw them pitted against Offaly. They conceded an early goal but they rallied with points from Rhianne Monaghan [3] and Emer McCanny [2] to lead 0-5 to 1-0 at the break. Offaly managed only a point in the second half as Rhianne Monaghan scored 1-2, Laura Corcoran a goal and half back Ann Jane O’Neill a point as it finished 2-8 to 1-1.

Next up were Ulster rivals Down and Tyrone led 1-2 to 0-0 at halftime with Rhianne Monaghan getting their total. In the second half Rhianne got another goal with Kelly McCaffrey also finding the net to leave it 3-2 to 0-1 at the final whistle. Now only Sligo stood between Tyrone and a place in the final. The first half was tight with Tyrone leading 0-2 to 0-0 thanks to points from Emer McCanny and Rhianne Monaghan. Tyrone though produced a fine second half display with Aine Strain and Eilish Cavanagh getting goals and Emma Conroy a point as they won 2-3 to 0-0. The exertions though caught up with them in the final as a strong Dublin side emerged 1-8 to 0-1 winners. Still a great performance from the girls and management and they can now look forward to an Ulster final date with Donegal at the end of the month.
