Tyrone Ladies U16s start their 2013 Ulster Championship campaign against Armagh in Garvaghey on Saturday at 2pm. The team managers, Martin Conway and Desi Friel, are looking forward to taking on pre-championship favourites Armagh in the opener. “The girls have been working hard at training even though many of them have been in the middle of exams. We will see where we are at when we play a very strong and much fancied Armagh team but if our girls play to their potential then Tyrone U16s will certainly put a challenge up to them”.

This year’s U16 team is captained by Clann na Gael’s Niamh Browne who has captained Loreto Omagh to several Ulster School’s Championships and played in Tyrone’s Ulster U16 Championship winning team last year. Niamh knows what it takes to win at this level and is excited at the prospect of this year’s Championship. “We have a great bunch of players in the squad and we have been putting in a huge effort at training. The Ulster Championship is very competitive this year with 6 counties taking part and every county will have hopes of winning but I think we will be a match for them all”.
