Tyrone U21s Secure Shamrock Cup
Monday 24.02.2014
Tyrone are the 2014 Shamrock Cup champions after a 2-12 to 1-10 victory over Antrim yesterday in the Cremartin run tournament. The basis for the Tyrone win came in the opening 30 minutes as they had led 2-8 to 0-5 at the short whistle with Frank Burns hitting the Red Hands goals. Antrim fought back strongly in the second half firing home 1-5 however Tyrone slotted four more points to capture the silverware for the second year in a row. Among the points for Tyrone on the day were Enda Mc Gahan and Michael Cassidy. Tyrone captain Brendan Burns accepts the cup from the Cremartin chairman Brendan McNally.
The Tyrone squad has now just over three weeks to prepare for the visit of either Derry or Cavan in the Ulster U21 championship. That game will be played in Omagh on 19th March and will be covered live on teamtalkmag.com radio.
