Tyrone 7-14 Monaghan 3-10

Tyrone Ladies U16s bounced back in Fintona from last week’s defeat to
Donegal with a convincing victory over a much fancied Monaghan side to
set up a rematch with Donegal in the Ulster Championship Final on July
28th.

Despite falling behind by 4 points and not getting on the scoreboard
until the 12th minute the Red Hand girls dominated this game for the
remaining 48 minutes. Hannah Lydon tortured the Monaghan defence
throughout the afternoon with a fantastic display at corner forward
while in the opposite corner Cill Iseal’s Grainne Rafferty made great use of possession and finished the day with a personal tally of 4
goals and 2 points.

In an all round good team performance, St. Dympna’s’ Emma Smith was
the star performer for the Red Hands today pulling all the strings at
half-forward with a superb display of passing. Niamh McElduff and
Niamh O’Neill worked hard and ran at the Monaghan defence at every
opportunity moving the ball quickly into the on form Tyrone full
forward line.

The experienced management team of Loughmacrory’s Paddy Fox and
Malachy Coyle will have been satisfied with the result and performance
of this game but they will feel there is still much work to do in
preparation for the Ulster Final.
