Tyrone v Dublin 1995 Revisited
Sunday 02.10.2011

A large crowd turned out at O’Neill Park Dungannon for the game between the Dublin team that “won” the All Ireland title in 1995 and the Tyrone team they “defeated” in the final. There was lots of banter, craic and reminiscing as the players and management teams rolled back the years in honour of young Cian Corrigan a football mad Tyrone/Dublin fan in whose memory the weekend was organised. Tyrone won the match by a couple of points and actually lined the team out exactly as the first fifteen started on that day. To Dublin’s great credit many of the side that played in 1995 travelled and played including their present manager Pat Gilroy. Their most gifted forward Jason Sherlock travelled up in his car and played the first half but had to leave early to attend a family birthday.
After the match the teams and those involved in the organising of the weekend’s activities attended a post match banquet at The Bank House Hotel in Dungannon where the wine flowed as freely as the chat and a great night was had by all as Karen and the staff of The Hotel did their best to ensure that a memorable weekend was finished off perfectly. As our photos show some players have barely changed since that memorable day while others have………… well we will leave it to you to decide how the others have fared with the passing of the years but let’s just say there are not as many combs needed now as there were back then.
