On a wind swept 3G pitch in MUSA St Patrick’s Academy captain Lára Devlin got the Ulster  semi final off to a good start with a fine point from play. She added two further points before St Pius Magherafelt’s Sinead Mulholland replied for the Derry school.

A well taken free from Aoife McOscar added another point to the Derry side’s tally as the blustery conditions  saw her well taken free end up in the Academy net. The Academy were stung into action and replied with  points from Oilibhia Farley and Lára Devlin but the St Pius girls scored another 2 points to go in at the interval ahead on a score line of 1-4 to 0-5.

The blustery conditions intensified in the second half and the Academy immediately took full advantage with Catherine Moohan finding the net twice in quick succession. Eva Cullen ,Orla Cullen and Lára Devlin continued to keep the score board ticking over with points from play while the St Pius girls struggled to deal with the prevailing weather conditions.

Any attack from the Derry girls was quickly dealt with by a Styron guy and efficient Academy half back line with Beth Jones allowing little past her. She was ably supported by defenders Carragh Cullen and Clara Doherty. The Academy finished strongly to win on a score line of 2-17 to 1-4

Substitutions : Meghan Doherty for Caitriona Ferran, Maighread Cunningham for Clara Doherty, Gemma Daly for Beth Jones, Niamh Doran for Carragh Cullen.
