A huge crowd turned out tonight for a superb evening’s entertainment at the Ulster Scor semi final in Dun Uladh. Tyrone, Fermanagh and Donegal clubs provided the competitors and every single contest was closely fought. Tyrone qualified in five out of eight of the disciplines with host club Killyclogher winning through in the Ceili and Set Dancing, Ballad Group and Novelty Act while Dromore were successful in the instrumental music section. Dromore’s performance and result were more than noteworthy considering that they had been up against last year’s All Ireland Scor champions Derrygonnelly from Fermanagh. Indeed Kildress came agonisingly close to making it six Tyrone finalists when they were pipped by just two points in the quiz by Donegal champions Dungloe. The Wolfe Tones team had been leading by four points at the halfway point but a late surge from the Gaeltacht club saw them declared winners. Carrickmore’s Cormac Mc Aleer was Fear a Ti for the night and did a wonderful job ensuring the whole night ran so efficiently.
