There were convincing wins in the under fourteen championship games played this afternoon for Newtownstewart, Dromore and Castlederg. Newtown defeated Killeeshil in a high scoring game 6-12 to 4-6 with goals coming from Patrick Hargan, Cormac Mc Namee, Tori Nicholas, Ciaran Mc Sorley and Eoin Bradley. Stephen Patton, Gary Duffy, Conor Kerrigan and Eoin Donnelly also hit points for the winners.
Castlederg also enjoyed a high scoring win over neighbours Urney for whom Eoin Quinn stood out. Top scorer on the day for the Derg was centre half forward Conor Harper who landed 3-03 for the winners. Darren Traynor also turned in a very impressive hour’s football scoring five points for his side. Other scorers in a very good team win for Castlederg were centre back Jerome Devenney with two fine goals and 1-01 from Shane Carlin. Final score Urney 1-09, Castlederg 8-10.
Dromore also enjoyed a very convincing win defeating Killyclogher 6-15 to 2-5. The winners began brightly and had the game won by half time as they led 3-13 to 1-1. Oran Sludden hit 2-3 in the first half with Emmett Mc Namee (1-5) another man to show well in the first half. Dromore continued to boss the game after the break with further goals from Sludden again and Caolan Mc Carron.
