Under 16 Championship Round Up
Saturday 10.09.2011

The Under 16 Championship is one of the most keenly fought competitions of the year and in one game in particular Stewartstown built on the success enjoyed by their Og Sport team as they defeated Dromore. The Harps were comfortable victors winning easily 2-15 to 2-3 with Daniel Lowe 0-6 and Macauley Quinn 0-4 their main marksmen. Their goals came courtesy of Conor Quinn and Tiernan Rush while Paddy Bleeks and Darren Devlin starred for the winners.
Kildress defeated Fintona by three points 2-9 to 2-6 with Ruairi Quinn and Cormac Mc Nally getting the goals for the winners. They were indebted in the last minute to goal keeper Matthew Mullan who made a point blank save right at the death to ensure his side held out to win. Donaghmore lost out to Naomh Mhuire in a very close game 0-15 to 2-7 while two goals in the first half for Omagh helped them defeat near neighbours Cappagh 3-9 to 1-11 although the Killyclogher side staged a good second half comeback in that one.
Coalisland Fianna had a narrow win away to Eglish in their quarter final match 0-13 to 2-6 with their scores coming from O’Hagan, Woods, Shea Oliver, Paul Herron, Cahir Dillon and Gerard Quinn. Dara Mc Cann had a fine game in midfield for the winners, Shea Oliver was the pick of the forwards while Paul Herron had a commanding game at centre back. The Fianna won in spite of hitting ten wides and missing two good goal chances in the first half.
