Saturday afternoon saw two under sixteen championship titles decided at Killyclogher when Gortin saw off the challenge of Brackaville Owen Roes and Donaghmore defeated a very talented Drumragh.

Gortin were just too strong against Brackaville. Team captain Cillian Ellis led the way  a masterful display. Goals from Ellis and Pearse Kerlin helped put Gortin 3-8 to 1-6 clear approaching the half time whistle but a goal on the stroke of half time from Aaron Callan for the East Tyrone side gave them hope.

However Gortin upped the pace after the break and pulled away to win convincingly. Further goals from Jamie Clarke, Peadar Devery, Jack Mc Connell, Cahir Conway, Cillian Ellis and Daire Smyth saw Gortin pull away to win comfortably.

The second game was a much more competitive contest which was eventually won by a very talented Donaghmore side on a score line of 2-10 to 1-7.

The game was entertaining and intense from the off. Donaghmore opened the scoring with a goal from big midfielder Adam Collins and with their full forward line showing plenty of pace and skill they managed to reach the break leading 1-8 to 0-1. Player of the match Dara O’Neill combined numerous times with team mate Padraig Mc Ashea to keep the Drumragh defence on their toes.

Drumragh came out for the second half determined to make a go of it. Conor Fyffe, Matt Gallagher, James Gallagher and Oisin Walsh carried the fight to Donaghmore. The Sarsfields hit 1-5 without reply in the second half with their goal coming from Ollie Hagan to leave just three points between the sides.

Donaghmore looked rattled but they steadied the ship and added a late goal from the boot of Dara O’Neill to secure the win and the grade 2 championship title.
