In the preliminary round of the under 16 championship today Ardboe entertained Moy and in a very close game edged it 1-11 to 2-7. Young star David Mulgrew top scored for his side with 0-7 with their other scores coming from Aidan O’Neill (1-0), Michael O’Neill (0-2), Jordan Coney and Kevin O’Neill (0-1) each. In addition to the scorers other star performers on the day for the winners were Paddy Sheehy, Nathan Bell, John Teague and Caolan Mallaghan.

Meanwhile Newtownstewart got the better of Killeeshil in a high scoring under 14 league game emerging 5-12 to 3-7 winners. Scorers for the north Tyrone side were Tori Nicholas 3-01, Niall Mc Nulty 2-00, Patrick Hargan 0-4, Stephen Patton 0-3, Cormac Mc Namee 0-02 and a point each for eoin Donnelly and Ciaran Mc Sorley.
