B Ulster U-20 Football Championship
Cavan 1-9
Tyrone 1-16
Tyrone booked their place in the new look Ulster under 20 decider with a powerful second half that helped them to a seven point win at Redhills against hosts Cavan. The physically strong Breffni side started favourites but found themselves up against a tigerish Tyrone that turned in a great display inspired by the defending of Bree Mc Bride, Tori Mc Mullan and Cora Quinn, displays of note from midfielders Laura Duff and Caislin Treacy with Ella Mc Caffrey and Catherine Moohan leading the attack on an afternoon of an overall  superb team display.
The red hands led by two at the break and despite having the influential Mc Caffrey yellow carded for the opening nine minutes of the second half they nudged themselves five ahead and never looked back. That said goalkeeper Rubi Mc Garvey made a stunning double save midway through the half and they were tested but came away with flying colours.
A blistering start by Tyrone had them four up with seven minutes on the clock Moohan with a double, Mc Caffrey and Rebecca Rafferty with points however they were quickly reeled in and the sides were level by the end of the first quarter. Hannah Mc Phillips on target with Kate Fegan and Holly Mc Phillips spurning goal chances settling for points.
Cavan went ahead through O’Meara the lead brief as Duff fired in a goal, her initial shot well parried away by Abby Mc Dermott. The home keeper was on hand to save well from Moohan before a high ball in at the other end was collected by O’Meara who sent the ball past Mc Garvey. Tia Mc Cormack, Mc Caffrey and a well worked score from Treacy pulled Tyrone clear as half time approached. Mc Caffrey was yellow carded with a minute to go.
With the wind at their backs Tyrone hit the ground running after an early Mc Phillips point. After a wide the Cavan kick out was won and put over by Treacy and when Meabh Campbell won the next kick out she teed up Mc Mullan. Moohan and Mc Cormack put Tyrone five clear before Mc Caffrey’s return.
The Tyrone defence had to be alert to the danger that Cavan posed. Mc Phillips tagged on a point while O’Meara and Mia Farrelly tested Mc Garvey  with eighteen minutes gone. Mc Mullan Campbell, Quinn and Cara Collins were excellent at the back and that proved to be the perfect foundation to build towards victory.
Lively Hanna Cavlan cut inside for a point, Mc Caffrey and Treacy were on target and a second Tyrone goal was harshly ruled out. Mc Garvey saved from close range when Blathnaid Farrelly closed in and Mc Phillips third point gave them some hope, Tyrone were equal to the challenge . Moohan and Mc Caffrey eased any worries as Tyrone eased over the line to an Ulster final.
Tyrone Scorers: Catherine Moohan and Ella Mc Caffrey 0-4 each, Laura Duff 1-0, Caislan Treacy 0-3, Tia Mc Cormack 0-2, Rebecca Rafferty, Tori Mc Mullan and Hannah Cavlan 0-1 each.
