Of course this time of the year is always very busy for youth football with many underage competitions within the county reaching their conclusions. One of the most keenly fought of all of these and one which always draws large crowds is the under thirteen competition. This year’s grade one final was between Dromore and Moortown and in a high scoring game the lough shore lads emerged victorious. Paul Devlin’s team has been hugely impressive throughout the league stages and the knockout section as well. My sources tell me they were worthy winners and will be the team to watch when next year’s feile and under fourteen competitions are down for decision. One of the other big winners on Saturday last was Naomh Mhuire who lifted the grade one under sixteen championship title following a three point win over Omagh at Greencastle. A young fellow by the name of Mallon, son of former county star Joe, was the star man for his side.
