Urney are through to the quarter finals of the Tyrone Intermediate Championship following their come-back win over Eskra on Friday evening at Killyclogher.

The north Tyrone side were second best throughout the first half as a Raymond Mc Ginley inspired Eskra side reached the break leading 1-3 to 0-3. The Emmetts dominated possession and the break ball from early on and moved 1-2 to no score ahead following points from Joe Mc Carroll and Peter Hughes  and a well taken goal from Mc Carroll. Indeed had Eskra made better use of their chances they could have been out of sight by the short whistle.

Urney on the other hand went in at the break just glad to be still in the game having kicked eleven first half wides and looking like a side lacking in confidence. Sean Mc Gowan’s late brace of points just before the short whistle just about gave them hope that they were still in the game.

Eskra scored the first point of the second half through Cormac Arkinson but in spite of playing with the wind they then failed to hit the target for the next twenty minutes. Urney threw caution to the wind running from deep and launching the ball into the square. That tactic paid off for the border men as they found the net twice to take the tie on a final score of 2-6 to 1-5. Their second goal from the boot of Plunket Langan was a deserved match winner and a goal worthy of winning any game.
