Urney went into their championship clash with Glenelly at Sigerson Park on the back of some fine recent league form. The return from injury of Johnny Lafferty and Fergal Mc Nulty certainly made a huge difference to the team’s results and once again today against Glenelly that duo was central to their team’s success.

Adrian Maxwell opened the scoring for the border men before Nathan Mc Laughlin replied for Glenelly. Ryan Henry stormed through for a point and Jake Lafferty then hit three in a row as Urney made a strong start to the game. Cormac Mc Bride reduced the gap for Glenelly but Adrian Maxwell and Stephen Lafferty pointed to leave five between them with half time rapidly approaching.

Glenelly finished the half with points from Nathan Mc Laughlin and Rory Kennedy to leave the score at the break 0-7 to 0-4 for Urney.

Glenelly began the second half in a hurry and with points from Cormac Mc Connell and Seamus Harkin (2) they were soon level. It looked like they could well push on for the win. However the levelling score was as good as it got for Glenelly as Urney put on a show of finishing with a Mark Lafferty goal, points from Ryan Henry, Kyle  Henry (2), Johnny Lafferty and Ryan Henry to win on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-7.
