Tyrone defeated Westmeath in the All Ireland series on Sunday after a comprehensive display. Westmeath looked sharp early on and created a number of chances. The scoring began with a sixth minute goal from Caitlin. Campbell followed by points from Sorcha Gormley and Aoife Horisk. The same two players added further points to leave it 1-4 to no score as Tyrone built up a head of steam.

Westmeath finally got their opening score from Sarah Dillon and the same player added three further points before the break while Aoibhinn Mc Hugh bagged Tyrone’s second goal to leave the half time score 2-4 to 0-4 in favour of Tyrone.

Tyrone were awarded a penalty four minutes into the second half after Slaine Mc Carroll was fouled. Sorcha Gormley converted the spot kick to stretch the Tyrone lead before a point from Aoibhinn Mc Hugh made it 3-5 to 0-4.

Westmeath added points but a second converted penalty from Sorcha Gormley put Tyrone in total control. Aoife Horisk pointed before Niamh O’Neill hit the net for Tyrone’s fifth goal. Horisk added a sixth goal before late points from Emer Mc Canny and Niamh O’Neill completed the win on a final score of 6-12 to 0-7.
