Tyrone began the second half well and drew level with the help of Darryl Magee who hit 0-6 on the night. James Mc Gahan came on a second half sub and hit a point for the Red Hands. They moved into the lead with a score from Ronan Nugent but Down responded with two late points to snatch the win on a score line of 1-7 to 0-8.

Down have been playing with the wind at their backs in the first half and they lead 1-3 to 0-3 at the break. Tyrone have had to rely on Clonoe man Darryl Magee to kick their three points. Magee has also missed a penalty.

The powers that be  at Croke Park may have decided to scrap the All Ireland series at U18 Vocational Schools level but the competition is still alive and well in Ulster and Tyrone begin their quest to add to their record haul of eighteen Provincial titles when they take on Down this evening at Davitt Park in Lurgan. Throw in is at 6pm with the winners set to meet holders Donegal. Tune into teamtalkmag.com for regular updates from the game
