Holy Trinity College defeated St Joseph’s Coalisland in the first round of the Under 14 Tyrone Vocational Schools championship at MUSA today. Holy Trinity finished convincing winners on a scoreline of 4-10 to 2-6, but Coalisland will take great heart from a spirited second half performance, which saw them edge back into the contest. It was corner forward Tiernan McNamee who did most of the damage for Cookstown, kicking 2-2 from play in the first half. He was backed up in attack by Sean Conway and Manus Teague who also found the net. There were also impressive performances in defence with Conan McDonald and Ryan McNamee both playing very well for the Cookstown boys.
