Tyrone served up notice that they won’t be giving up the McKenna Cup without a fight after easing to a fifteen point victory over visiting Queens University at Healy Park on Sunday afternoon.

It was the Students who were the sharper side early on and after a quarter of an hour they deservedly led 0-5 to 0-1 with Ryan Murray, Greg McCabe and Michael Monan among their points. They were to score just once more though in the remainder of the half as the holders took over.  Ronan O’Neill and Lee Brennan landing all ten points between them with the former also scoring a goal to leave it 1-10 to 0-6 at the break.

O’Neill, Peter Harte, Justin McMahon, Hugh Pat McGeary and Niall Morgan all added second half points with substitute duo  Johnny Monroe and Connor McAliskey both finding the net and despite losing Kieran McGeary to a second yellow card they emerged convincing 3-17 to 0-11 winners.
