Edendork and Carrickmore came away victorious from this evening’s championship double header at Dunmoyle. Inspired by Niall Morgan Edendork accounted for a gallant Loughmacrory outfit who battled right to the end before losing 0-19 to 0-13. Morgan was the main man for the winners hitting 0-8 with several long range free kicks that had to be seen to be believed.

Loughmacrory produced a terrific second half comeback that saw them narrow the gap to three points with three minutes remaining. Indeed had Damien Mc Aleer not over carried when through on goal the outcome of the game could well have different. Ronan Ward gave a masterclass in finishing for the Loch scoring nine of their thirteen points but Edendork were not to be denied as they rallied towards the end finishing strongly  to hit the final three scores of the game with Niall Morgan’s final point being a dead ball from beyond sixty metres.

Carrickmore went into their game with Eskra as raging hot favourites to defeat the new kids on the block. For most of the first half it looked as if they would stroll to victory as they kept their opponents at arm’s length with a series of timely scores. Mark Donnelly’s goal twenty minutes in put Carrickmore 1-5 to 0-2 in front. The favourites added two further scores before Peter Hughes sent over a brace of points to give Eskra hope just before the break. There was a bit of a flare up in the middle of the field which resulted in Martin Penrose receiving a second yellow card.

Eskra came out for the second half and opened the scoring through Joe Mc Carroll. However Carrickmore then hit a purple patch inside the next seven minutes scoring 1-6 without reply. Eskra then threw caution to the wind scoring 1-3 and coming close on two occasions to bagging further goals. However try as they may they could not close the gap further and Carrickmore won comfortably on a score line of 2-12 to 1-8.

The winners can now look forward to a clash with Augher in the quarter finals but know that they will have to improve considerably on tonight’s showing if they are to progress further in this year’s championship.
