Wolfe Tones Made To Work Hard For Victory
Saturday 09.09.2023

Drumquin are through to the quarter finals of the Junior championship but they had to pull out all the stops to get the better of a dogged Brocagh side at Dunmoyle on Saturday afternoon.
Brocagh full forward Justin Campbell opened the scoring with a brilliant effort from out on the left wing inside sixty seconds but that was the only time that the Loughshore men would have their noses in front. Eoin Skelton, Frankie McAlynn and Niall McAlynn had Drumquin points before Oisin McMenamin bagged a 14th minute goal when he reacted first to a Padraic Rodgers shot coming off the bar. Sean McDonagh added a brace of points but efforts from Michael Robinson [2] and Ciaran Campbell saw Brocagh close the gap to 1-6 to 0-5 at the break.
Straight from the restart Owen Canavan charged through for a superb Brocagh point with Justin Campbell tagging on a point from a free. At this stage man of the match Frankie McAlynn came to the fore with a brace of quality points on his way to a personal haul of 0-6. Michael Hughes and Brandon McKiver both scored to keep Brocagh in touch but they had both Pearse McAliskey and McKiver sent off in the closing stages as Drumquin advanced on a 1-13 to 0-11 scoreline.
