The latest round of club minor league games took place over two nights this week. Here is the round up from Tuesday’s games with Wednesday’s action to follow.

Killeeshil continue to set the pace at the top of the grade 1A section after making it four wins out of five when beating Ardboe 1-10 to 0-9 at St.Mary’s Park. A great piece of opportunism from Cormac Donaghy saw him score the only goal of the game in the first half. The direct running of Pascal Donaghy was also paying dividends and he got his name on the scoresheet as did Louis Conlon and Niall Loughran to leave it 1-5 to 0-5 at halftime. The second half was scrappier but it was the home side who continued to be the better side. Loughran laid the ball off for Cormac Donaghy to split the posts with a well taken point from thirty metres out but Ardboe kept in touch with a few frees. With time running out Killeeshil keeper Michael Conlon came to his side’s rescue with an outstanding one handed save before clearing the danger. At that stage the home side held a slender two point lead but they closed the game out with efforts from Matthew McCusker and Conlon.

Derrylaughan are in second place with a game in hand on the leaders after winning away to Edendork in a high scoring encounter. The home side led by seven points at halftime but the Kevin Barrys hit 1-2 in the opening five minutes of the second half before weighing in with 1-5 in the closing five minutes to triumph on a 3-17 to 3-13 scoreline. Tomas Carney hit an impressive ten points for the winners, Paul Donnelly got 2-2, Conor Hughes was their other goal scorer with James Donnelly [3], Caolan Corr and Shane Crew also on target. Niall McAlinden top scored for the St.Malachys with 1-2 to his name with Ronan Maneely and Ruairi Conlon weighing it with 1-1 each, while Ryan McCurry [3], Emmett Hughes [3], Lorcan Devlin [2] and Gareth McKenna their other marksmen.

The other game in this section saw Galbally host Dungannon and it was the Clarkes who prevailed to climb above the Pearses into third place. Galbally led early on thanks to a Daniel Kerr goal but the Clarkes hit back with Oisin Cowan converting a penalty. Mark Donnelly and Cormac Donnelly had Galbally points with James Morgan and Conor McKee replying for Dungannon before goals from Dylan O’Hagan and Dalaigh Jones left the visitors leading 3-4 to 1-5 at halftime. McKee knocked over three frees in the third quarter for the Clarkes to extend their lead before centre half back Dylan McVeigh opened Galbally’s second half account. Caoimhin Quinn then scored a Galbally goal and when Mark Donnelly knocked over a point the gap had been trimmed to four with five minutes left on the clock. Dungannon didn’t panic though and two late McKee points saw them emerge winners on a 3-10 to 2-7 scoreline. In section 1B there were wins for Errigal Ciaran and Pomeroy over Newtownstewart and Cappagh respectively.

In section 2A the leading game saw Donaghmore and Kildress go head to head at Father Devlin Park and both sides dropped their first point of the campaign after it finished 0-11 to 2-5. The St.Patricks led 0-8 to 0-3 at halftime but Kildress got second half goals from Tiarnan Loughran and Corey Holland before an injury time free from Matthew McGuigan earned the visitors a share of the spoils. Pauric Lagan and McGuigan finished with two points each for the Wolfe Tones with Callum Holland and Adam Connolly also on target on a night when they had good displays from Foalan Girvan in defence and Pauric Lagan in midfield. Kildress stay second in the table, two points behind Donaghmore but with a game in hand over them.

Coalisland moved up to joint third place after a thumping 4-16 to 0-7 victory away to Cookstown. Dillan Woods bagged two goals for the Fianna, Eoin Rankin weighed in with 1-5, Oran Bayne also found the net while Tee Quinn contributed five points. The Father Rocks were minus the services of seven regulars on a night when their best performers were Ronan Hughes and Conor Fowley. Clonoe picked up their first win of the campaign when they emerged 3-12 to 2-9 winners away to Eglish. Kieran Begley in defence and Dylan Horsefield up front where best for Eglish on the night.

Only one game took place in section 2B and it resulted in a hard fought 2-13 to 2-11 win for Trillick over Gael Naomh Padraig at Donnelly Park. Dara McQuaid, the Worley twins, Tomas Kelly, James Garrity and the Gray brothers were to the fore for the St.Macartans who are one of three sides tied at the top of the table.

In section 3B Castlederg remain unbeaten after three games thanks to a 6-10 to 3-8 success away to Tattyreagh.  The main scorers for the St.Eugenes were Shane Carlin, Conor Harper and Darren Traynor. Ciaran Taggart top scored for Tattyreagh with 2-5 to his name, Mark Gilloway got their other goal with Peadar Mullan, Brandon Byrne and Luke Baxter notching a point apiece. Greencastle continue to set the pace at the summit of the table with a full return of points from their four outings to date.
