Tyrone were made to work hard against a determined and very well organised Antrim team before emerging 0-11 to 0-9 winners in Saturday’s Ulster Under 20 semi final played at Lavey.

Played in horrendous conditions both sides struggled to cope with the incessant rain, strong wind and occasional snow fall.

Antrim played with the elements in the first half and with Dominic Mc Enhill and Pat Shivers in fine form they reached the break leading 0-4 to 0-2. Tyrone’s first half scores came courtesy of two long range frees from goalkeeper  Lorcan Quinn. The Red Hands came close to snatching a goal after seven minutes when Tom Donaghy pounced on an error by Antrim keeper Luke Mulholland only to see his shot sail wide of the post.

Paul Devlin’s Young side began the second half well with early points from Tiernan Quinn and Ethan Jordan to level the game. Tyrone seemed well placed to push on but Shivers and Brolly pointed to put Antrim in front again 0-6 to 0-5.

Tyrone enjoyed something of a purple patch between the seventh and twentieth minutes hitting five unanswered points with Antoin Fox, Darragh Canavan and Tiernan Quinn again among the scores. However Antrim refused to throw in the towel and Mc Enhill, Cormac Mc Gettigan, Eoghan Mc Menamin and Shivers helped reduce the gap to two before referee Kevin Faloon sounded the full time whistle.

Winning 0-11 to 0-9 Tyrone will now face Donegal in the Ulster final next week.
