All Ireland Semi For Carmen Handballers.
Tuesday 07.12.2010
Last week saw Carrickmore’s Senior Handball team create history by lifting their first ever Ulster Senior Club Championship Title. Since their All-Ireland Junior Club glory in Roscommon 3 years ago, the Club had set their sights on a Senior title and on Tuesday night last in Armagh, they duly collected the Ulster crown by defeating reigning champions Gort Na Mona of Belfast on a scoreline of 109-94 points much to the delight of the travelling fans.
The team consisted of Darragh Daly, Padraic McGlinchey, Gary McCrory and Caolan Daly, and with an average age of 22, hopefully the Club can build on their success and progress to greater things.
The team travel to Roscommon on Saturday to take on Mallow from Cork in the All Ireland Semi – Final . Mallow have Ireland’s No.2 player Tony Healy on board and this will prove a huge challenge for the boys from Carmen. Nevertheless the team are looking forward to the challenge and the Club wishes them every success in their bid for All-Ireland glory.
