Tyrone’s senior Camogie side claimed the Division Four league title on Saturday when they defeated Mayo in the final of the Very sponsored National League.

Tyrone played up the hill in the first half which contributed to the westerners making a fast start with early points from Lisa Scahill and Ciara Delaney. Two Casey Gallagher points and one from player of the match Lara Devlin put Tyrone 0-3 to 0-2 in front. Mayo responded with a goal from Ava Lambert to move two points ahead. Tyrone however showed considerable resilience to hit three points without reply from Devlin, Gallagher and the hard working Aoibhin Daly to move ahead again.

Mayo’s Amy Mulkeen converted a free before Lara Devlin landed an audacious score. Mayo scored three of the next four points  but by this stage it was clear Mayo could not cope with the pace and inventiveness of Tyrone ace Lara Devlin. Lisa Scahill fired over a brace of Mayo points but scores from Devlin (2) and Reagan Fay kept Tyrone in the ascendancy.

Mayo received a boost when forward Hannah Toner flicked an Amy Mulkeen free to the net to put her side one in front with half time approaching. Lara Devlin however tied the game with the final score of the half.

Half time score: Tyrone 0-12, Mayo 2-6

Tyrone began the second half on top with points from  Reagan Fay and Lara Devlin before a brace of Roisin Mc Erlean scores. Lisa Scahill pointed to keep her team in the contest as the game became more physical but Tyrone stood strong with further points from Fay and Mc Erlean to claim the title on a final score of 0-18 to 2-8.
