Division 2 Tighter Than A Scotsman’s Wallet!

On the current standings only two points separate Pomeroy in first place and Augher in eleventh position in Division Two. It is a very competitive and tight division where quite literally any team is well capable of beating any other. I have always maintained that this division is the one with most to play for with promotion and relegation issues occupying the minds of most clubs until late in the year with many of these issues only being sorted on the last day of the season.

Last year’s Division two league champions Eglish had a look of near invincibility about them from very early in that campaign and along with Derrylaughan left the others very much in their wake. The same cannot be said about this year as every team has suffered defeat at least once meaning that with six games gone there is still no real front runner. From first down to eleventh place and even below that there is still much to play for as all these teams jostle for position and points. As a result this makes the league even more intriguing and competitive and with sides like Kildress, Clan na Gael, Aghyaran and Rock all in reasonable form the likelihood of some team going through the rest of the season unbeaten is remote. Expect the table to change frequently both at the basement and the top and don’t be surprised if you see teams in the bottom two or three getting the better of those sitting proudly at the summit.
