Tyrone Under 21s came down to earth with a bang today when they were beaten by first round championship opponents Down in today’s Cremartin Cup game. Raymond Munroe’s side lost out by three points on a score line of 1-10 to 10 in a game which was played at Kilcoo. Down had been the dominant team in the opening thirty minutes and Tyrone found themselves five points down at half time. However the introduction of second half subs Ciaran Gervin and Paddy Mc Niece changed the whole dynamic of the game and Tyrone were much the better side in the second half showing great spirit and grit. The two minor stars from 2008 added much needed drive and craft to the forward line and caused the Down defence lots of second half problems. Matty Donnelly, Diarmuid Mc Nulty, Brian Mc Garvey and Tommy Canavan were among the scorers for the Red Hand Men. Tyrone complete their sectional games with a match against Monaghan next weekend.
