Eglish lifted the senior league title on Friday night after they defeated a talented Ballymacnab side at Pairc Chormaic on Friday night on a score line of 2-15 to 1-12.

The winners served their victory but were indebted to player of the match Brenda Horsfield whose secure handling and pinpoints distribution ensured that Ballymacnab’s chances op goals were kept to a minimum.

The first half was close and competitive and the Armagh girls led 0-4 to 0-3 with five minutes of the half remaining. However Eglish finished strongly with four points in a row from Leanne Donnelly sending Egligh off at the break leading 0-7 to 0-4.

Ballymacnab had been the better side in the first half but despite creating numerous chances from Michelle Mc Guigan, Elle Mc Kee and the highly talented Eimear Smyth.

Aife Crilly opened the scoring for Ballymacnab before Rhianne Mc Loughlin rattled the net for Eglish. Maebh Crilly and Ellie Mc Kee landed points to narrow the gap before an Eimear Smith goal levelled the game at 1-7 apiece.

Credit to Eglish with Caitlin Gallagher and Eve Hughes prominent Eglish steadied the ship and the introduction of Reagan Fay ensured there would be no smash and grab by Ballymacnab. Converted frees from Eimear Smith kept the Armagh side in the game but late points from Fay, Niamh Mc Nulty and Cliona Goodfellow and several fine stops from Horsfield in goals secured the win and the league title for Eglish.
