Eoghan Ruadh Hurlers Secure Ulster Shield

Dungannon Eoghan Ruadh produced an impressive display at Ballinascreen in their Ulster Shield Hurling Final  to defeat Lisbellaw of Fermanagh on a score line of 2-15 to 1-11.

The Tyrone side played into the breeze in the opening half and with Cian Ferguson, James Mc Cann and Rory Weir In impressive form they reached the break 1-5 to 0-6 in front. Weir’s fine individual goal in the 16th minute was a well constructed one that put his side two points clear. Lisbellaw did respond well with Luca Mc Cusker landing five first half points to leave two between the teams at the break.
The Tyrone champions controlled the second half with Conall Devlin, Fergal Donaghy and Sean Paul Mc Kernan ensuring the Fermanagh lads were kept at bay. Eoghan Ruadh ran their bench and took some fine scores in an impressive second half showing. Both sides found the net late in the second half but by that time the game was well over as a contest and Eoghan Ruadh deserving winners.
In addition to winning the Ulster Shield the Tyrone lads will also get to compete in the semi final of the Ulster Cup Competition next weekend when they will lock horns with Antrim side Dunloy.
