Frank Burns Faces Race Against Time

Frank Burns is unlikely to feature in the Ulster championship quarter final against either Monaghan or Cavan on April 21st but he hasn’t given up hope on still featuring for the Red Hands in 2024.

He hasn’t played this season to date after taking time out for rehab on a knee problem that he sustained while helping Pomeroy win the Tyrone Intermediate championship in the latter stages of last season. He recently had a minor operation on the problem and is currently on crutches.

“I had an operation recently and hopefully it won’t keep me out for too long,” said Frank.

“I will just have to wait and see how things play out but I would be hopeful to be able to play at some stage of this season’s championship.”

His return would certainly be a boost to a Tyrone side who finished their league campaign with a heavy defeat at the hands of Dublin last weekend. With fellow All Ireland winners such as Michael McKernan, Peter Harte, Conn Kilpatrick, Conor Meyler and Michael O’Neill all currently on the sidelines with injuries as well the Red Hands could certainly do with a few of them back as they begin their assault on the Anglo Celt up next month.
