Galbally won the grade two minor league title at Stewartstown on Wednesday evening when they had three points to spare over Dungannon in a keenly contested decider, 1-11 to 1-8 the final scoreline.

The Clarkes began the better of the two sides and by the end of the opening quarter they were 0-4 to 0-2 in front with points coming from Leo Hughes, Finn Spence and Fearghal Mallon, Eoghan O’Neill with a brace for the Pearses. Gradually Galbally began to get on top and scores from Joseph Corrigan, Sean Hughes and O’Neill enabled them to lead 0-6 to 0-4 at the break.

It was an advantage that they were never to lose and after Leo Hughes and O’Neill had swapped early second half points Enda McLaughlin palmed in a 35th minute goal for the winners. Dungannon though dug deep with Hughes and a Spence brace reducing the deficit to two points with twenty minutes left to play.

Galbally didn’t panic though with Sean Hughes converting a “45” and O’Neill taking his personal haul to 0-7 before Corrigan left six between the two sides. Time was not on Dungannon’s side but a goal from Jose Pereira halved the deficit to set up a tense finale. Dungannon through everything that they had at Galbally but the Pearses held on to take the silverware.
