Dromore Ladies GFC -v- Clonoe Ladies League Round 5, 25/04/2023

Dromore played away to Clonoe and suffered their first defeat of the campaign.  The first half was nip and tuck with both sides showing plenty of endeavour and number of quality points being scored.  Dromore’s defence lead by Tara McQuaid worked tirelessly throughout.  Cadhla Kelly goaled for Dromore to leave them trailing by the minimum at half time. Clonoe 0-07 Dromore 1-03.

The second half was much like the first with the play being stop start which led to both sets of players becoming frustrated.  Clonoe scored two goals to put them in control but Dromore fought back with the likes of Eve & Shauna Teague leading the charge.  Kelly scored a cracking goal to leave a tense finish but Clonoe held out to win on a scoreline of 2-08 to 2-05.

Beragh 10.8   Drumquin 4.6

Drumquin began the game with two quick fire points and were the better team for the opening ten minutes. Beragh then got to grips with the fast running Patterson and Breanna Mc Menamin before scores from Keeva Owens, Bronagh Farley, Katie Grimes and Eva Montague turned the tide from then until the break.

Beragh emptied the bench in the 2nd half with great defensive displays from molly Darcy Aiofe McWilliams, Avanna Campbell, Jenna Curran  and the very impressive Aiofe Farley managed to keep Drumquin at arms’ length. With particularly fine displays from Taidhgin Patterson and Alanna Mc Menamin in the second half resulted in Drumquin outscoring Beragh in the 2nd half.

Castlederg saw off the challenge of Drumragh winning by 3-7 to 0-10 having led at the break 2-3 to 0-6. Drumragh scorers: Caoimhe McCarron 0-4, Rihanna Mullin 0-4, Rihanna Barrett 0-1, Mia Feeney 0-1. Cara Kerlin, Iona Mills and Lily O’Kane defended well for Drumragh, who also had strong performances from Mairead Corrigan, Mia Feeney and Rihanna Barrett. Derg scorers. Amelia Coyle penalty 1-0

Eadaoin Lynch 2-3, Caitlin Gallen 0-2, Aoibhinn Mc Garvey 0-1

Macartans and Pomeroy played out an entertaining and close contest before the Clogher Valley girls emerged victorious on a scoreline 2-8 to to 0-7. The Plunketts were well in the contest at the break trailing by a point 1-4 to 0-6. St Macs scorers : Aoibheann Shelvin 1 1  ,Ella McCarroll 1 0 , Eabha McNamee 0 3, Holly Meegan 0 1 Hannah McGurk  0 1, Meabh McKenna  0 1, Sarah McCarroll  0 1. Eirinn McKenna  played well in defence and Ellie McMenamin made some good saves in goal. 

Killeeshil made the long trip to Aghayran in the hope to continue their unbeaten run. Aghayran played with the wind in the first half to toke advantage of the elements and got the first goal as well as a number of good points with the wind at their back. Killeeshil played extremely well with big performances from Aine Gormley, Niamh Canning and Aine mc Crory.

The second half proved to be competitive and tight from start to finish. Killeeshil created a number of scoring chances but just didn’t have the rub of the green. They continued to work hard as a team and eventually got the scores their play deserved. Claire Keown top scored with 1-2 including the winning point right at the death. Unfortunately for Aghyaran in spite of a great display they just came up short. Killeeshil remain undefeated and top of the division three minor league table 

A close game between two talented sides saw the Fianna lead at the half time 5-5 to 3-1. That lead was in no small way thanks to the excellent form of Brianna Campbell in goals.For the first twenty minutes Fr Rocks and Coalisland traded scores with Eabha Coyle and Crea Sheehy grabbing a share of the Fr Rocks goals, with brilliant support play from Amy Sheehy and strong defensive play from Emma Heaney.

The Fr Rocks fortunes then changed when Amy Sheehy went off injured as Coalisland took command finishing the stronger of the two at the end of the first half.
In the first period of the 2nd half Coalisland continued their dominance adding another rally of scores but a late surge from the Fr Rocks saw goals from Ceara Mai O’Neill and Megan McErlain and great play from Eabha Coyle who was on top form the whole match but it was stretch too far as Coalisland led by Aoibhinn Mc Williams took the win on a scoreline of 6-10 to 5-3.

It was a high scoring and competitive game between Glenelly and Trillick with the fist half seeing Lily Rose Clarke hit 3-4 and Sorcha McKeown 0-1 to leave the half time score  Glenelly 3-5 Trillick 1-1. The Reds were much improved after the break but the north Tyrone side were not to be denied and ran out 3-13 to 3-6 winners.

Loughmacrory Minor Girls really found their rhythm against Ardboe and ran out comfortable winners. Among their scorers on the night were Aoibhin Kelly,

Cora McElduff, Leah Gallagher, Lucy McCullagh, Laura Duff, Ciara Gordon and

Maeve Heaney.

HT Owen Roes (2-3) v Sperrin Óg (1-5)

FT: Owen Roes (3-10) v Sperrin Óg (5-7)

Owen Roes led Sperrin Óg 2-3 to 1-5 at the break but lost out 5-7 to 3-10 after a rip roaring game between two quality sides. Niamh Conway was outstanding for the winners in defence with well placed kickouts from Tara Haughey putting the Greencastle girls on the front foot in the second half. Cira McLaughlin hit two goals from frees and with two further goals from Alice McGlinchey after some hard work by Caislin Tracey and Niamh McGlinchey. Scorers: Alice McGlinchey 2-01, Cira McLaughlin 2-00, Caislin Tracey 0-05, Clara Maguire 0-01

Emma Gillen top scored for Kildress with 3-1 as the Wolfe Tones saw off the challenge of Donaghmore 8-10 to 2-8. After an entertaining and competitive first half Kildress led 3-6 to 1-3. Scorers for Kildress: Emma Gillen 3- 1, Jodie mccrory 1- 5, Mia Muldoon 1-1, Leah loughran 1-0, Ella Tracey 1-0, Marianna loughran 1-0, Katie Rose Muldoon 0-2, Emma Kearney 0-1.
