Carrickmore 1-10 Dungannon 3-12

Dungannon produced a superb second half display to emerge worthy eight point winners away to joint leaders Carrickmore on Wednesday evening.

Paul Donaghy and Aidan Fullerton traded early points before Dailaigh  Jones scored a well taken goal. Carrickmore though bounced back with points from Ruairi Slane and Penrose either side of a well taken goal from the latter as they hit 1-3 without reply. Brian Conway, who had just hit a point for the hosts was then unlucky to rattle the bar. Dungannon though weathered the storm and they carved open the Carrickmore defence for Donaghy to finish to the net from close range before the same player added a brace of frees for a 2-4 to 1-6 interval advantage.

Keeper Jack McCallan knocked over a 45 on the restart to level matters before a Ciaran Daly free edged Carrickmore in front. That was as good as it got for the hosts though as the visitors began to get on top throughout the field. Ryan Jones, who was superb throughout, brought a save from McCallan but Sean Molloy was in the right place at the right time to score a goal from the rebound.

Donaghy landed another brace with Patrick Molloy fisting a point before Paddy Quinn hit a brilliant score after going past three challenges. Penrose was unlucky to hit the post with a goal chance and after Donaghy and Stephen Grogan had swapped points Quinn hit another beauty this time from the left wing. Ruairi Loughran responded with Carrickmore’s only second half score from play but it was Dungannon who closed the game out through efforts from Ryan Jones and Donaghy.
