Harry Loughran Forced To Retire
Wednesday 24.02.2021
The sad news has broken this evening that Harry Loughran has been forced to retire from football at just twenty six years of age. Its a massive blow to Harry and his club Moy as well as Tyrone that such a talent has been forced to stop playing at such a young age.
He was an integral part of the Moy side who won Tyrone, Ulster and All Ireland Intermediate titles in 2018 and will be forever remembered for scoring the dramatic late winning goal in the All Ireland semi as they overcame a fancied An Ghaeltacht side on a 1-5 to 0-6 scoreline at Semple Stadium. He followed that up with the only goal in the decider at Croke Park as well as Moy triumphed 1-10 to 0-7 against Michael Glaveys, the Roscommon and Connaught champions.
His form for his club caught the attention of Tyrone manager Mickey Harte who called him into the County squad. Harry made his Tyrone debut in the National League against Mayo in March 2017 while his last appearance was against Cavan in the league last year.
All in all he made 11 appearances in the Red Hand jersey, 6 championship, 4 League and 1 in McKenna Cup, scoring 3-2 in the process. His first goal was in the McKenna Cup Final against Donegal in 2018 and later that same year he also found the net against Meath in the championship in Navan as well as Tyrone’s super 8 victory over Donegal in Ballybofey. No doubt he will still be heavily involved with his club Moy and everybody at TTM wish him all the best for the future.
