The TTM Team are saddened to learn of the death of Ardboe man Jim Curran.  Jim would often have highlighted the fact that he was fortunate to play for and be in and around Ardboe during a golden era for the club.  A skilled goalkeeper and a larger than life character he even played on some of the best 5-a-soccer sides to come out of Ardboe.  He would soon turn his attention to administration which would see him serve as club chairman, member of the county GAC and member of the county board.  During that period he acted as manager/coach/fixer to several of the clubs underage and adult sides.

Throughout that period of administration Jim kept up his interest in refereeing and took charge of several county finals, an Ulster Senior Championship final in 1998 and an All Ireland Club final between Eire Og of Carlow and O’Donovan Rossa in 1993 including the replay.  Jim was also one of Mickey Harte’s trusty lieutenants during the run to the All Ireland Minor and U21 titles and the All Ireland Senior Championship titles in 2003, 2005 and 2008.  Every single player, scorer, substitute and blood sub neatly recorded in the notepad he carried everywhere with his.  Everyone who was anyone that could assist Tyrone in any shape or form was on speed dial in Jim Curran’s phone.

Our condolences to his wife Glenda sons Paul and Declan, and daughters Nuala, Roisin, Abigail, Madison, Teresa and Jessica.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
