Played in windy conditions Tyrone and Armagh served up a highly entertaining game at Fintona on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Hands played into the breeze in the opening half but opened the scoring after Orla Warnock was fouled and Aoife Byrne scored from the placed ball.Tyrone continued to press before Derbhla Gallagher was fouled and once again Byrne stepped up to score.

Armagh got their first score from play but Tyrone responded with real purpose. C Meeke took a quick kick out to O’Hagan who ran at the defence before linking with Aoife Seaney who cleverly sent Bronagh McKenna through to fire to the net.

This score seemed to fire up Armagh as the Orchard girls responded with two quick points. O ‘Hanlon,  Mossey and Mc Guinness were pressuring the Armagh forwards with great tackling.

Armagh did add another score but with Erin McMahon started breaking up attacks ably assisted by Grace O’Neill and Maria O Hagan, they found the Tyrone defence in resolute mood.

The home side added to their tally when Aoibhainn Murray broke up field linking with Ellie Jay Mc Menamin before passing to Gallagher who fired over to leave the score at the break Tyrone 1-03 Armagh 0-04.
With the wind at their backs Tyrone started well. Mc Menamin was fouled heading goal-wards and Byrne again stepped up to score while Murray took advantage of a poor clearance to fire over from play.

S. L. Franey replaced Orla Warnock as the Tyrone management started to use their bench. Franey was fouled and once again Byrne converted.

To their credit Armagh responded well hitting Tyrone for 1-02 on the break. E McMahon  and captain Meabh Corrigan broke up another attack before finding O’Hagan who passed to Gallagher. The young forward showed considerable composure to finish to the net and end any chance of an Armagh come-back.

Tyrone were now well on top and pushed on landing scores from Gallagher and O’Hagan before  Ikeya Collins wrapped up the scoring the scoring with a point.

Final score: Tyrone 2-12 Armagh 1-07
