This game was over long before the final whistle as Armagh showed their qualities and a ruthless streak. Aimee Mackin led the line superbly for the Orchard county with 3-2 as they ran out comfortable winners on the day.

With Sinead Mc Vey returning in goals and good displays from Aoibhinn Mc Hugh, Meabh Mallon, Caoime Magee and Caitlin Campbell, Tyrone looked good at times.

Next up for Tyrone is a must win outing against Westmeath with both Tipperary and Cavan to come.

After an impressive opening half Armagh led by eight.

The visitors raced into an early lead with points from Blathin and Amy Mackin and a well taken goal from Aoife Mc Coy. Mackin added another point before Grainne Rafferty pointed to open her side’s account.

Team captain Mc Hugh set Aoife Horisk up for a second point as Tyrone began to get more into the contest. Armagh however were back in control on twenty minutes.

Niamh Coleman pointed before Aimee Mackin steered home a penalty after winning the spot kick herself. After a quick series of hand passing involving Mackin, Kelly Mallon and Emily Druse she slipped home a third Armagh goal. Mallon and Maeve Lennon pointed to bring the first half scoring to an end.

For Tyrone Mc Caffrey pointed and a minute after coming on for the injured Rebecca Barker, Nicole Murphy reacted well to snatch a goal after Mc Carroll’s snap shot was well saved by Mathers.

Armagh got off to a good start after the break. Mackin and Catherine Marley hit points early on. In a low scoring third quarter Mc Hugh tagged on the hosts only point.

After Tyrone missed several chances Mackin again struck for goal hitting a fourth goal after a tidy turnover. Tyrone substitute Aoife Mc Gahan added a brace of points in the closing minutes although Armagh finished strong.

Niamh Reel and the impressive Lauren Mc Conville combined to put Mc Coy in for number five as Coleman and Reel wrapped up the scoring with late points.
