Lap the LOUGHS for Lent – Virtual Tour with Loughmacrory GAA ‍♀️‍♂️️⛹️‍♂️‍

Physical and Mental Health & Well-being initiative for lent!

Join us for a series of Physical and Mental Health Activities throughout the 40 Days of Lent as Loughmacrory will go on a Virtual Tour of 32 Loughs and Clubs throughout Ireland as well as 8 International GAA Club destinations with a ‘Lough’ influence.

To register, click here: https://bit.ly/3jDWo5q

Over the period of the 40 days of lent, starting on Wednesday 17th February 2021, we are planning a cumulative miles challenge – everyone will walk, run, cycle or covert exercise to miles to add to the total miles covered as we move around the Loughs of Ireland and indeed the world “virtually”. A full chart with details of how exercise can be converted to miles is below on the graphic.

Each week we will update you on where we have got to and we will even have a few special guests from some of our destinations say hello as we arrive in their community.

All of this will of course help everyone take up healthy physical activities in a range of different ways, and there is something there for all ages to get involved in the Community where you will all be part of a very exciting and unique combined journey! #InItTogether

In addition, as part of our Lenten Physical and Mental Health and Wellbeing activities challenge, there will be a series of virtual sessions throughout the weeks with a range of brilliant and inspiring speakers – everyone who enters can attend these. The speakers will include: Tyrone GAA Legend, Mickey Harte; Conor Meyler, Tyrone GAA Football star and inspirational and motivational speaker; Conor McCafferty from Zest, talking about Emotional Health and the impact of Alcohol; Jimmy Carrigan on coping with grief and loss; and well known inspirational ladies role model, Neamh Woods. Full details of each virtual event, how you can tune in and what each session is about will be promoted as our Lenten Health and Wellbeing journey develops.

For the over 60s there will be Zoom chair-based activities with Michaela while for the young members of families you can clock up the miles by practicing your football or handball skills.

We will keep you updated through the social media channels on further sessions and times and dates of those in advance.

To get involved you can register online now at here: https://bit.ly/3jDWo5q

Each Friday by 7pm, everyone is asked to complete their ‘Miles Registered Sheet’ and send this to email: laptheloughs@gmail.com; after which we will update on each Sunday evening what is the next destination we have then reached on our virtual journey.

The entire initiative will conclude on Easter Saturday night, 3rd April 2021, as the club will conclude with a final online Quiz where all questions will relate to the 40 destinations and the complete Lenten Lap the Loughs Journey.

Overall a series of excellent physical and mental health activities for everyone to be a part of another great Community drive – again showing we are ‘In This Together’.
