Holy Trinity Cookstown 1-9 St.Eunan’s Letterkenny 2-6

Holy Trinity Cookstown substitute Conor Quinn was the hero at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh on Monday afternoon when he landed an injury time equaliser to deny St.Eunan’s Letterkenny the Danske Bank MacLarnon Cup title.

The Donegal lads dominated the first half but still only led 1-4 to 1-2 at the break. Brian Diver opened the scoring with a goal but Holy Trinity replied with a major from Tiernan Mackle. Shane McDevitt and Conor O’Donnell had points for St.Eunan’s before Tiarnan Quinn and Oran Mulgrew narrowed the gap before the interval.

When the superb Conor O’Donnell blasted in a goal five minutes into the second half St.Eunan’s looked to be well in control as they moved five clear but then Holy Trinity hit back. Eoin Gallagher, Pauric Lagan and Mark McKearney had points to level matters. An O’Donnell free ended St.Eunan’s barren spell but Quinn had the final say. The Donegal lads could have won it right at the end but Holy Trinity keeper Conor Loane made a great save to deny O’Donnell.
